Simple Stretching Techniques That Can Revive Your Energy

If you ever experience an afternoon slump, there is an easy way to revive your energy.

While you are doing the stretching, remember to:

  • Breathe deeply and slowly
  • Stretch to the point of feeling a “”release,”" but not to the point of feeling pain
  • Hold each stretch for 10-30 seconds, or more if it feels good

Pain is Not a Symptom of Arthritis, Pain Causes Arthritis: New Study

Pain is more than a symptom of osteoarthritis, it is an inherent and damaging part of the disease itself, according to a study published today in journal Arthritis and Rheumatism. More specifically, the study revealed that pain signals originating in arthritic joints, and the biochemical processing of those signals as they reach the spinal cord, worsen and expand arthritis. In addition, researchers found that nerve pathways carrying pain signals transfer inflammation from arthritic joints to the spine and back again, causing disease at both ends. (more…)

    A diet rich in beans, whole grains and soy products may help keep blood pressure in check. In a study of 4,680 adults, scientists found that a 5% higher intake of glutamic acid - the predominant amino acid in these nonanimal sources of protein - helped reduce blood pressure by up to 4.1 total points. To increase your glutamic acid intake, eat like a vegetarian once a week: Choose a black bean burger over beef, or stir fry tofu instead of pork.
